Our flagship product, the Braai #Plankie, is a handcrafted “braaiplank” that is perfect for serving food in a stylish and practical way. Our collection features a range of #Plankies, each designed for a specific purpose, including the Salt-block Braai #Plankie, Jumbo Braai #Plankie, Sushi #Plankie, Pizza #Plankie, and more.

Our company was founded with the goal of providing reliable and smart products that meet the needs of our clients. Our #Plankie range was born out of a coping mechanism during the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020. The success of the first #Plankies sold through an online auction for charity inspired us to create a bespoke item range to meet the growing demand for our unique products.

The #Plankie range was originally exclusively made from African Rosewood, but due to its increasing difficulty to source and import, the company decided to introduce Kiaat into their range as an alternative wood for their products. While the founders have a deep appreciation for African Rosewood and its unique characteristics, they had to make the difficult decision to switch to a more readily available and ethically sourced wood.

Kiaat is closely related to African Padauk (both are species of the Pterocarpus genus), sharing its characteristics of being durable, extremely stable and easy workability. The wood is renowned for its great bug and termite resistance.

Although Kiaat has an impressive strength-to-weight ratio which, combined with its durability, makes it a very versatile, useful wood. Its heartwood color can vary from a light golden brown to a medium brown with a reddish or purplish tint. Grains can be straight, wavy or interlocked, its texture ranges from fine to medium, with a nice natural luster.
