We founded #Plankie Art by Welly & Cellie with one goal in mind: providing a high-quality, smart, and reliable online store. Our passion for excellence has driven us from the beginning and continues to drive us into the future. We know that every client's product counts and strive to make the entire shopping experience as rewarding as possible. Check it out for yourself!

The so-called #plankie was created by us during the COVID-19 hard lockdown in March 2020 as a bit of a coping mechanism during the long unproductive days.

The very first 2 #plankies was crafted from a piece of offcut African Rosewood we pulled out of a storeroom. They were sold on an online auction as a charity project. The auction was such a great success, and 2 charities received much needed financial relief from this initiative. The two very generous supporters also became the happy owners of those unique #plankies.

Very soon we were flooded by enquiries and further requests for our #plankies started streaming in from passionate braai-aficionados!

A variety of new product designs joins the #Plankie family on a regular basis. Custom designs, inspired by client’s requests, becomes bespoke items in our range.

Each #plankie is handcrafted by Welly & Cellie. This, together with the unique characteristics of African Rosewood ensures that not one #plankie will ever look the same!

African Rosewood is a species from the same genus as Bubinga (Guibourtia). The grain is generally straight but can be interlocked; its texture is moderately fine. The heartwood colour ranges from pink to reddish-brown, with purple or red streaks/lines/highlights.
